A bulleted post after a long time

- Well, you must know that you desperately need some sleep if you read “Erratic monsoon hits tomato crop” as “Erotic monsoon hits tomato soup” and spend the next 10 seconds wondering why on earth such a reputed newspaper would want to have such nonsensical headlines. I really need to get some more sleep. It will go down in the list of goals for this month.

- Probably, yesterday’s early morning ride was the longest I will have in a few months to come, atleast. It was a nice ride, considering that I used the entire ride to formulate lines for my new poem. It was a 8-line 2-paragraph poem called the ‘The dance of the lantern’. I had metaphorized the poem so much that at the end of its creation, I was sure that no one would understand what it was written for. That is how my poems are. No one really understands the inner meaning! Just before I reached my destination, I recited the poem one more time in my head lest I forget before I put it down on paper. But after last night’s G-talk chat with DR, who said she was taking great pains to understand my poem, I realized that there was no use of putting up such poems on the blog. So finally, I decided not to put it down on paper too. The poem died last night. If you are curious about the inner meaning of the poem, which I can reveal since you wont be reading the poem, it was about ‘a fictitious victory of the Uyghurs over Hans Chinese, and an Afghan occupation of the Xinjiang province’. You might be wondering how on earth it would make a topic for a poem, but thats just me!

- Last Tuesday, I completed an year at work. In the last year, I believe that I have been productive only in two-sevenths of the period and the rest has been nothing less than ‘time pass’. You need not scratch your head for a long time to find out how I reached that numerical figure.

- Prakirana has got off to a great start. For those readers of my blog who do not know about it- It is a group of like-minded men and women who want to make a difference to the society that we live in. I know that it sounds like a very cliched definition, but that’s the most simple definition of Prakirana I could think of. But what do we do? We started off yesterday- by adopting a govt school and promising them and ourselves that we will take care of their English education. We began with an introductory session with each of us opting for a class of our choice. More action will be seen this weekend, I presume.

- Talking about teaching kids, I have realized how important the area of pedagogy is. If I hadn’t got involved with this, I might never have taken pedagogy and its methods seriously. For example, I probably learnt trigonometry faster than I picked up alphabets and I had never given it a thought all this while. I am doing some research into this, and will probably come up with a well-researched post on it in a few days.

- I dont know if I have to be proud about this, but I haven’t watched a single race this season. Not even a minute of a race. I think I watched one session of qualifying some time, but not a race. Not even the highlights. I have been wondering if this lack of interest is directly related to the lack of the Ferraris’ performance. Every weekend I make it a point to watch the race and I always get occupied with ‘more interesting’ things just before the race. I have also heard that this phenomenon of lack of interest in F1 is now spreading among people at a very quick pace. So it’s not just me.

- I spent a lot of time last week reading various analyses of the budget. My personal opinion of the budget is positive. I think we should give the FM a chance to show where he is leading us. What I was happy and impressed about was the dearth of short-sightedness in the budget speech, which has been the bane of Indian politics for a long time now.

- Finally, I am looking forward to watching Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. It’s been a long time since we have heard anything from Hogwarts. I am planning to read the book once (third time? fourth time? I dont remember. Who cares!) before watching the movie. Love Aaj Kal is another movie I am dying to watch. Some refreshing times lay ahead, giving us a break from the Rakhi Sawants and Arnab Goswamis.

    - You seem to be doing a research on that too!!

    - Never would anyone understand why the hell you came with such a poem. Yours is a disturbed mind. But by what remains the queer question?!

    - Certainly, I don’t know why they pay you!. Maybe for the “nonsensical” research!

    - Prakirana took off with a good start. And ya its damn difficult to teach! Like you said, never bothered about ABCD, only was very much bothered about who ruled which dynasty, perm and comb (Still bad at this :( ) and et al.

    - Coz of Brawn, there’s no competition at all. Even this Sunday, din watch much of German Grand Prix even though I was free.

    - Somehow I din bother much about the budget, now that’s bothering me :(

    - I don rem a thing from 6th book, need to read it again!
