Shilpa got kissed.. So what?

Burning effigies of celebrities has become so common in India these days, isnt it? So, why should one give a damn? People are just showing off their joblessness.

If Richard Gere wanted to educate us about the non-connection between Kissing and AIDS, and if the lady in question- Ms.Shilpa Shetty had no objections, what the hell is wrong with it? It’s unfortunate that the core issue –AIDS is being downplayed by the media for a more sensational news. The advent of numerous TV news channels and their game plan of sensationalizing every small bit of news has probably done more harm to India than good.

AIDS is one of the problems developing India will have to face in the next two decades. And if we don’t learn to discuss it or educate people about it, India might just become another Nigeria or Uganda. CONDOM is one word which we are still shy to use and its one commodity which people are still shy to buy. If this has to change, only the media can help. But what did they just do? It’s high time the Indian media learns to concentrate on the bigger issues rather than highlight the trivial ones.
